30 Days of Night

A botch of a brilliant concept. Based on the graphic novel, this follows a pack of vampires as they attack the tiny Alaskan town of Barrow just as it enters a month without sunshine. Expert handling of certain key elements – namely the logistics of the town and the passage of time – could have made this a vampire twist on High Noon, but director David Slade instead plays up the gore.
