Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Some of the best moments during a fireworks display come just before another bang, when the sky has gone dark again, filled only with anticipation. This latest installment in J.K. Rowling’s book series – one of Hollywood’s most glittering fireworks displays – is almost entirely bang. With at least seven major new characters – including the first full appearance of nemesis Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) – and an elaborate story arc, the movie is for those who have read the 734-page book by J.K. Rowling and were smart enough to bring it into the theater for quick reference. For everyone else, it’s a magic show that turns into a juggling act.
