Sienna Miller shows impressive range in this biopic of Andy Warhol “superstar” Edie Sedgwick, but range isn’t necessarily what the part requires. Sedgwick had an ephemeral star quality that made her, for a few years, the princess of popular culture, but Miller lacks that sort of presence. She’s a good actress, but not a good icon. That’s a fatal flaw for Factory Girl, because the movie is largely about how Sedgwick held Warhol’s – and then the public’s – fascination. “Time sort of stopped when you were with her,” George Plimpton says over the end credits, but neither Miller nor the movie explain why.
