Monster

Monster offers the angry feminist version of Aileen Wuornos, the Florida prostitute who was executed for murdering seven men in the 1980s. It’s a movie full of
victims, with Wuornos as the most sympathetic of the bunch. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the movie paints a gritty picture, thanks largely to a committed and unrecognizable Charlize Theron, but it’s ultimately less humanist than political. Monster takes a tragic real-life story and forces it into the shape of a thesis statement.
