Another hilarious lark from Joel and Ethan Coen, this time based on the 1955 Alec Guinness black comedy of the same name. Tom Hanks takes on the Guinness role – that of a faux professor whose casino heist is thwarted by an aging Southern Baptist woman (an invaluable Irma P. Hall) – and turns in his most spirited work in years. It’s good fun watching a great actor have the time of his life.
