Bratz

The girls in the live-action Bratz movie look less – what’s the right word? – whorish than the dolls, but the lifestyle their movie is selling is no less disturbing. In an appearance-obsessed culture that’s already full of landmines for self-conscious little girls, here is a movie that insists they are only worth as much as the clothes on their backs. Best Friends Forever Yasmin (Nathalia Ramos), Jade (Janel Parrish), Sasha (Logan Browning) and Cloe (Skyler Shaye) are entering high school armed with little more than a “passion for fashion,” and that proves to be enough to solve everything from cliques to divorce.
