27 Dresses

Katherine Heigl, whose comedic performance matched that of any of the boys in last summer’s Knocked Up, gets her own movie with 27 Dresses, but it’s such a forced, dim-bulb romantic comedy that you only get occasional glimpses of her considerable talent. Heigl plays Jane, a perpetual bridesmaid who is pining for her too-good-to-be-true boss (Edward Burns). The trouble isn’t that you can see exactly where this is going, but that none of the possibilities are anything other than clichéd.
