This family drama exists in its own lovely little universe, and the best way to appreciate it is to not hold it up to the rules and expectations of ours. Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton) is a down-to-earth Texan who smiles at his wife (Virginia Madsen), laughs with his kids, rounds up the cattle – and has a rocket in his barn. From the surrealistic sibling filmmaking team of Michael and Mark Polish (Northfork), this isn’t really about whether or not Farmer launches his rocket. Instead, it’s about the way dreamers such as Farmer – and artists such as the Polish brothers – see the world. Things, especially movies, look different through their eyes. The magical looks possible.
