Chaos Theory

Chaos Theory, about an efficiency expert whose domestic life unravels, has more ludicrous plot developments than an entire season of soap opera, which would be OK if this were a farce. Unfortunately, the movie means to be a Dan in Real Life-style opportunity to stretch for wise-guy actor Ryan Reynolds. Like Steve Carell, who tiptoed into relationship drama with Dan in Real Life, Reynolds shows some range. Yet also like Carell, he’s undermined by silly, contrived material.
