A delightfully oddball effort from the lo-fi writing-directing team of Mark and Jay Duplass (Baghead), this muted farce benefits from the pitch-perfect performances of its cast. John C. Reilly stars as a depressed divorce who finds a goofy match in a single mom played by Marisa Tomei. They’re a sweet fit – too much so for her possessive, adult son (Jonah Hill). Yes, there are hints of a dark incest drama here, as well as the makings of a crass comedy. The Duplass brothers aim for somewhere in the middle, and it miraculously works.
