Eye, The

An American take on a Hong Kong horror franchise, this offers refreshing, slow-burn chills. The gore comes in dollops, not buckets, and there’s not a torture scene to be found. The creepy images are especially disturbing because the heroine (Jessica Alba) can’t get away from them. Having recently undergone a cornea transplant to restore her vision, she begins to see ghoulish figures everywhere she looks. The only way she can escape them is to close her eyes or willingly turn out the lights. The Eye turns things upside down for a horror movie – you want to be alone in the dark.
