The Fast and the Furious

Another movie geared toward 14-year-old boys, but at least this one seems to be made by adults. This tale of a mysterious newcomer (Paul Walker) who tries to infiltrate the world of Los Angeles street racing has its silly moments, but at least the stunts are exciting and competently staged. Plus, then-compelling Vin Diesel (no, he didn’t change his name for the film) is on hand as the leader of one of the racing gangs, bringing a muscular authority to the genre thrills.
