Furry Vengeance

How embedded has Earth Day become in our culture? It now gets its own inane Hollywood movie to mark the occasion, just like Valentine’s Day and Christmas.

That would be Furry Vengeance, a live-action family comedy in which woodland creatures declare war on the developer (Brendan Fraser) who means to bulldoze their forest. Let’s just say Fraser gets pooped on. A lot.

Mercifully these animals don’t “talk” – the movie’s single clever invention is the use of comic-strip thought bubbles – but that doesn’t spare you from other, shiver-inducing sights: Fraser prancing around in a tight ladies’ jogging suit; Brooke Shields rapping; Samantha Bee being unfunny. For a truly hilarious – and satirical – family comedy about McMansion mania, check out DreamWorks Animation’s underrated Over the Hedge instead.
