Rick Gonzalez has long been the most interesting face in the background of such genre pictures as Biker Boyz and Coach Carter. Here he gets to carry a genre picture all his own, and he does it with his usual scrawny charm. Gonzalez plays Wilson De Leon, a privileged college student who struts around in gangsta clothes. He discovers that this upper-class existence has been built upon a mysterious past involving the death of his father, and he’s forced into the thug life for real when gangsters from the old neighborhood come after his mother (Wanda De Jesus, giving a Pam Grier-worthy performance).
