Condemned, The

This World Wrestling Entertainment vehicle for Steve Austin has such potential – some of it actually realized – that I wished it had been made with a big-time budget, director and stars. Ten death-row inmates are turned against each other on an island as part of a reality show for the Internet, and between the smack-downs the movie pauses for some heavy-handed satirizing of our violent and voyeuristic technological age. More honestly disturbing is the way the brutal violence implicates us as viewers – we can’t really click our tongues at the people downloading this in the movie because we, in a sense, are too.
