Intolerable Cruelty

Joel and Ethan Coen perfectly employ the sheer movie-star sizzle of George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones in this sublime recreation of classic Hollywood’s screwball comedies. He’s a divorce attorney and she’s a fortune-seeking serial marrier – two anti-romantics who are perfect for each other. At turns sweet and salty, cynical and starry-eyed, this is a sugary romance tempered by the Coens’ sardonic touch.
