Girlfriends are bad, wives are worse and babies are the kiss of death in this bitter Italian comedy about a group of friends in their late 20s who are loath to give up bachelorhood, even as wedding days and children are
fast approaching. A smug Stefano Accorsi stars as Carlo, a fun-loving advertising executive undergoing an emotional crisis thanks to his 30th birthday and his
girlfriend’s pregnancy. Could a fling with a flirtatious high-schooler be the answer? If The Last Kiss stuck to its snide world view, it would at
least be an admirably committed anti-family diatribe. But the romantic spin that’s put on everything in the last 15 minutes suggests the filmmakers are both selfish and spineless.
