The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I didn’t know movies could get this big. The final installment in the film version of the fantasy trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien has a sweeping style that’s awesome – in the original, near-religious sense of the word. It’s not only that the picture consists of 200 minutes stuffed with visual grandeur, but that it has a thematic breadth and emotional depth to match. King is moviemaking at its most majestic.

“Unusually sensitive, in the sense that every element seems to pulse with its own life force. . .”
