Pirates of the Caribbean:
Dead Man’s Chest

Once it dispenses with the convoluted logistics of reteaming its three leads – earnest sailor Will Turner (Orlando Bloom); his spirited fiance Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley); and Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, still delightfully in search of his sea legs – this sequel works as wonderfully as the original. The secret is the way returning director Gore Verbinski and his exceedingly game cast treat the story’s fantastic action sequences as comic set pieces. The ultimate goal is not heroics, but laughs. With a fantastic Bill Nighy as legendary sea ghost Davy Jones, here envisioned as half man, half octopus.
