Pride and Glory

If bodice-bedecked period pictures are like catnip to many actresses, then cop movies are the same thing to actors who want to exercise their dramatic chops. Pride and Glory gives Edward Norton and Colin Farrell plenty of chances to do exactly that. Up until an overblown finale, the movie is gritty and grounded in reality, with more macho shouting per minute than something from David Mamet. Also with an excellent Jon Voight as a police commander presiding over two sons and a son-in-law on the force.
