Resident Evil: Extinction

An arresting milieu can go a long way toward distinguishing your average, B-grade horror exercise, and Resident Evil: Extinction has just that with its post-apocalyptic landscapes of Utah and Nevada. This is Mad Max with zombies. Actually, it’s Mad Maxine, as Milla Jovovich reprises her Resident Evil role of Alice. A mythical lone figure battling both zombies and the ruthless corporation whose experimental virus inadvertently created them, Alice this time finds herself traversing a desert populated by flesh-eaters, sadistic fellow survivors and undead crows. Along the way, there are clever lifts from The Birds, Planet of the Apes and even Cormac McCarthy’s bleak The Road.
