Shooter

Rather than using my star rating as a guide, here’s a more customized way to gauge whether or not you’ll enjoy Shooter: Give it three stars for each gun you own. This nasty, point-and-shoot action flick stars the woefully overqualified Mark Wahlberg as Bob Lee Swagger, a former Marine scout sniper who becomes embroiled in a government conspiracy. Forced to go on the run, Swagger turns into an inventive, renegade MacGyver type – if MacGyver had a mountain retreat stashed with military-grade firearms. Considering the way in which it fetishizes each weapon Swagger bears, this may be the only movie of 2007 reviewed in “Guns & Ammo.
