Shrek

A rollicking romp for parents disguised as a kiddie cartoon, Dreamworks Pictures’ animated triumph follows an ugly ogre (voiced by Mike Myers) whose swamp is overtaken by fairy-tale creatures on the run from a villainous dictator. In addition to a quick wit, the movie’s handling of the burgeoning romance between our hero and a princess (Cameron Diaz) turns conventional notions of beauty on its head, suggesting you can still live happily ever after even if the frog doesn’t turn into a prince.
