Transformers

Director Michael Bay takes what should have been his signature project – this isn’t only about vehicles, but vehicles that turn into weapon-wielding robots – and delivers a few striking images. Don’t expect any coherent action sequences, though. This called for the tension-filled touch of Steven Spielberg (an ironic executive producer), but instead it’s full of Bay’s usual bombastic chaos. By the time the interchangeable robots start crashing into each other, you might as well be watching a car compactor at work in a junkyard.
