You, Me and Dupree

Far more nimble than its setup suggests, You, Me and Dupree skips around from subtle character comedy to silly slapstick to all-out farce. Owen Wilson continues to coast on his dippy charm as a perpetual screw-up who ‘temporarily’ moves in with his best friend (Matt Dillon) and his new wife (Kate Hudson). The sibling directing team of Anthony and Joe Russo, who helmed episodes of Arrested Development, are smart enough to not let their movie simply be a catalog of Dupree’s bumbling, with Dillon and Hudson continually fuming in the background. Instead, the movie spreads open, looking for comic situations involving all of its characters.
