The Lost City

Sure, it may look like it was filmed in a parking garage and the story seems cobbled together by someone who fell asleep during Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone, but it’s still hard to resist The Lost City as it coasts along on the charisma and chemistry of its stars. Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a romance novelist who ends up on a jungle adventure with the hunky model (Channing Tatum) who appears on the covers of her books. They’re delightful together—very funny at first and then genuinely sweet, especially as Tatum’s Alan proves to be stuck in his career just as much as Loretta is, marking them as two stalled souls. With a gleeful Daniel Radcliffe as the villain and Brad Pitt in a cameo as a real-life adventurer. (Someone should put Pitt and Tatum in a buddy movie, considering how good they are together in their few scenes here.) Directed by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee, who wrote the screenplay with Oren Uziel and Dana Fox.
