Chalk

A cringe comedy along the lines of television’s “The Office,” Chalk will convince anyone who almost went into teaching that they made the right decision. Even if they’re currently on unemployment. A faux documentary following a group of high school teachers through one academic year, Chalk eventually gets around to a few moments of sweetness – you know, those instances of connection that educators tell you make everything else “worth it.” But for the most part, this is an all-too-accurate depiction of the disdain and disinterest teachers face on a daily basis. As with “The Office,” you laugh because the malaise on the screen feels so true.
